Infrared or induction, which should I buy?
Infrared if you want to keep using the cookware you already own, because it heats the plate and the pan sits on it, so steel, glass, clay and aluminium all work. Induction only heats magnetic vessels, so much of a typical Indian kitchen will not work on it. Induction is faster and cooler to the touch. Most people here are better served by infrared for exactly the cookware reason.
What socket does it need?
A 2000 W appliance should be on a 16 A point, not a 6 A one. On a 6 A socket it will either trip or overheat the point over time. If your kitchen only has 6 A sockets, that is a small job to change and we can quote it with the order. Do not run it through a thin extension board.
Can I use it as the only cooking point?
It works as a second point or for a small household. As the only cooking point for a family it will feel limiting, because there is one plate and the response is slower than gas. Most people buy it alongside a gas hob rather than instead of one.
Does the plate stay hot after switching off?
Yes, and this is the main practical difference from induction. Because infrared heats the plate itself, the surface holds heat for a while after the unit is off. Useful for keeping something warm, worth being careful about with children in the kitchen.
Can I get a GST invoice?
